The General Organization for International Fairs and Exhibitions was founded in 1956, originally located in Al-Gezira. It moved to its current location in Nasr City, Cairo, in 1980. In 1989, the Cairo International Conference Center was established in Nasr City.
In May 2008, the Cairo International Conference Center merged with the Egyptian General Authority for Exhibitions and International Markets to form a unified body for exhibitions and conferences. In October 2009, it was officially renamed the Egypt Expo & Convention Authority (EECA).
